"Sounds about right." He says, to the reports of him attacking people. All right, it's fight time. Time to get up. Once...twice, there we go. He's standing. Good job, Trevor.
He blinks back at Zack, without much comprehension.
Another nod. Okay. Prison within a prison. He's aware that some wardens have magic powers and thus might be capable of freezing him - like that fucking Shen Wei - so he's clearly debating whether Zack's one of them.
"So let me be sure I understand this. You think I attacked people. So you come down here, wake me up, and want me to follow you to some cell to be locked up. Am I getting that right?"
Zack looks like a regular human. A fit one who’s seen some action, if the scar on his cheek is any indication. The only tell that he might be different is that fact that his blue eyes are too bright to be natural.
“Well, apart from the fact that you just admitted to it, yeah, that pretty much sums it up.”
Christ. He really didn't want to get into a fight so soon after waking up, but here we are. God forbid Trevor ever actually communicate in anything but sarcastic grunts and comments.
"All right. Just so we're clear on the rules."
He takes off his cloak to drop it on the chair. And in the process reveals a veritable shit ton of illegal weaponry. Six throwing knives decorate his vest: there's a whip at his side. The swords he lost in port but the fact that he got this much past security might be a little worrying.
Trevor's arms are still bandaged from the fight that ended in his death but one is almost nearly healed; the other still has a mostly-healed fracture but he'd rather not fuck up that bone.
He cracks his neck, and lets his body loosen, rocking from one boot to the next to get into a fighting stance, and gives a tired (but weirdly, somewhat excited) smile. He missed non-kill fighting. Sorry in advance for the library, Jon, he'll try to keep the destruction to a minimum.
The next thing he's doing is winging two of those knives at Zack's hands, running to the side as soon as he's thrown them. Never be a standing target when you can be a moving one.
Well. That's a whole lot of weapons he's going to have to confiscate, isn't it?
Zack, of course, is ready. He doesn't get into a fighting stance, but when the knives come hurtling towards him, Zack dodges them with beyond human speed. He doesn't need magic for this -- or at least, he's not planning on using it.
His movements fluid, quick, and efficient, he's after Trevor in a fraction of a second. Using his speed, he'll aim to close the gap rapidly so he can throw a punch at the man's face. He'd rather end this quickly than drag it out.
Oh, here we go. Excitement thrums in Trevor's blood when he sees Zack take off after him at superhuman speeds. He measures where the punch is going to be, and dodges, twisting midway to keep an eye on Zack at all times. He might not have strength on his side, but he's had to dodge inhuman monster strikes plenty of times or risk being bodied in one or two hits. He was literally born for this.
"Been a while!" He exclaims, and uses the whip at his side to latch onto a bookshelf behind them, pulling it sharply down so Zack can either go after him or have a ton of books dropped on his head.
Damn, the poor books. Jon's going to have a coronary when he sees this mess.
Zack darts away from the falling bookshelf, and when he circles back around to attack Trevor, this time he feints. It looks like he's angling to punch him again, but he drops down at the last second to slam into his legs.
Maybe if he was here for something other than business, he'd banter back -- but he has a job to do.
Shit, sorry Jon. Even Trevor winces when the books come crashing down around them.
He darts back opposite Zack, exhaling, and waiting for the next attack. He makes to dodge, butis knocked down when the feint catches him off guard.
And inexplicably he's delighted to find this out. Zack is a smart fighter.
He takes the fall like a champion and rolls with it, using his environment to his full advantage. Books are winged at Zack's head, one after the other as Trevor scrambles to his feet. He spies the bookcase leaning partially against its brother and runs up it to the next. Time to lead a merry little chase.
Zack dodges them all, a brief flicker of annoyance on his face. If this keeps up, the entire library is going to be trashed. Jon doesn’t need that kind of headache so when Trevor runs up onto a bookshelf, Zack refuses to follow him.
Trevor also feels a bit bad, but if it's between wrecking a few books and staying away from Zack's hits, he knows his choice.
He ends up standing on a bookcase, before realizing he doesn't hear footsteps behind him. Trevor turns back around - can Zack teleport? - only to find that he's still on the ground and staring at him.
He stares back, and after an awkward beat, calls down:
"This is usually the part where you would come up after me. But if you're scared of heights, I understand if you want to call this a draw."
“What and encourage more destruction of the library?”
Jon has enough bullshit on his plate. He doesn’t need this.
“I’ll make you a deal. We stop fighting now and walk to the Enclosure. No funny business or fighting on the way. After we get there and program the settings, we settle this. Sound fair?”
He considers this, surprised. Trevor doesn't want to cause more trouble to Jon either. It doesn't take him long to decide.
"Fine." He says, short and sweet. "I'm coming down. Don't punch me when my back's turned."
Trevor makes it down to the ground and before he starts walking out of the library, holds up his hands to Zack.
"Hang on. Can we..."
He gestures to the bookcase he knocked over. They might not have time to right the books but the case is heavy; the two of them can push it back in place before they go.
“I said no fighting until we get to the Enclosure, didn’t I?”
He’s a man of his word. Even if he would like to strangle Trevor right now.
As for the matter of the bookcase, Zack sighs.
“Yeah, sure.”
It’s the least they can do, really. Zack gets on the opposite end of the bookshelf to help lift it back up. With both of them, it’s not too hard to get the thing back the way it should be.
Once it’s fixed and upright, Zack gestures at the door.
"Yeah, no fighting. Not 'I won't suckerpunch you.'" Trevor can't really bring himself to trust anyone at first glance.
"Especially when you're saying you're taking me to a cell." He says, after shoving the bookcase back in place. Trevor's using his shoulder instead of his hands, careful not to injure the healing bone. "Makes me not want to trust what you say."
He snorts. So serious.
"Hang on."
He seizes an index card from a free pile and a little pencil, scribbling a note for Jon;
Oh gods. It's another Adrian. Good to know he can fight dirty and really upset Zack later.
"Oh, am I keeping you from the absolutely fucking nothing on this ship?" Asks Trevor, who follows after. "My deepest apologies, didn't realize I was in the company of the admiral himself."
"That would be nice. If Death were permanent, which it's not" He says, rocking a little on his heels as he goes. Trevor illustrates with his hands, thinking aloud to annoy Zack;
"So not just one person then. What's the minimum number of attacks before one is locked in a cell on a prison ship? Just so we're clear."
“All you need to know is you’re already well over it.”
At least as far as he’s concerned.
They get up on the right level, finally, and Zack enters the settings he wants.
He gestures at the door. “After you.”
If Trevor goes in, he’ll see a large, sprawling city, unlike anything he’d have seen in his own time period. It’s Midgar, of course — what it looked like before Meteor fell.
He gives a bark of laughter. “You don’t actually know, do you? All right.”
Trevor enters, looking around with some curiosity. He hates the Enclosure on principle but at least he’ll get something of a fair fight out of this. Probably.
He turns on his heel, unfurling his whip and holding one of his daggers in the opposite hand.
“So I hear Zero isn’t really a “cell” in the sense that I know it.” He says, rolling his shoulder to get it back into condition. “If you’re going to threaten it, it should come with some bite.”
Everything on the Barge goes on a case by case basis. John, for example, was someone Zack just sat on for a few weeks until their pairing was up. And that was good enough to keep him from trying to attack anyone else.
Trevor, though? Even though Zero is just a time out feature, really, it’ll be good enough to buy some time to actually get plans in place. Because clearly, he needs quite a lot of supervision.
In the meantime, Zack pulls on his gloves and armbands — for protection, partially, but there’s a faint glow coming from a few slots in one of them as well.
He looks at Trevor and his whip but doesn’t seem fussed that he personally doesn’t have a weapon. This fight isn’t worth putting any wear, tear, or rust on the Buster.
“Guess you’re just going to have to find out when you get there, aren’t you?”
He assumes a ready stance this time. Liberated from the confines of the library, he doesn’t have to restrain himself.
Trevor adjusts his own armbands, noting the glow in his opponent’s - probably magical, a shield of protection or something.
“Unless you concede.” He calls back, and starts to flail the whip. It isn’t anywhere near Zack but it’s building up stronger hits as he goes, using his body to strike the air between them.
Trevor strikes suddenly. Zack has superhuman speed so he watches to see where he’ll move: the nice thing about the whip over the knives is that he can adjust where the strike will land after he’s already attacked.
“Is this your home?” He calls even as he’s aiming to strike Zack in the chest

Dreams, honor, etc.
