I suspect it isn’t in your nature to want to accept payment or any sort of recompense for the things you do for others - and truthfully, it isn’t my preference either. But I think, in his case, if there are things he wants to do to…balance his internal ledger, so to speak…I believe you should allow it.
He’s offered me payment for magic lessons, for example - which I don’t need and certainly would not have asked for. But that is our arrangement, presently, since I think it makes him feel more comfortable.
So if he does try to do things like that for you, I would accept it. It may even be good for him, doing things like that for others.
It's not, but I get where that instinct comes from. I used to do work when I was a kid, and I couldn't out myself for what I was, and I needed food.
And even here, I learned that balance shit very quickly with Sweeney. I'm not going to ask for anything but I wouldn't insult him by turning him down if he insists.
I’ll keep you appraised of things on my end where he’s concerned - and perhaps if he gets far enough with his lessons, he can start to do a little physical training with you.
I already promised him I wouldn't share anything he's told me in confidence - and there was a lot of that during the flood - so I would prefer not to make a liar of myself, even incidentally.
So I think we should both be content with what we know for now and use our best judgment where he's concerned.

There are other things that eat at him, though.
He did not have anyone to look after him for a very long time so anything we can do to support him will be helpful, I believe.

There is a limit to what we can explore because of cap on his abilities, but he has a great deal of raw power and natural talent.
The only issue I’ve run into is he becomes very self-conscious when he doesn’t…immediately succeed.
But I expect that will resolve itself over time.
