I think it's better to find something you're already good at and take the time to excel at it. You good at hand-eye coordination? Hitting a target from far away? Running, dodging? Staying silent?
Oh, well... funny story! I'm actually really good at all of that. Or, I was, but, you know, I figure it's like riding a bike. And anyway, I was thinking more things that would be useful on the Barge? I can't exactly make a spike pit if someone is coming after me in a hallway.

Trap-setting's probably good, then. Spike pits, snares, places you can hide and attack from above or in a funnel.
