She might look small, but she's tough. I wouldn't underestimate her.

Then there's Alec, whose husband is my warden. And Dracula, of course.

I haven't really talked to either of them, [ she admits. ] But I'd probably not want to piss off Dracula just cause Hunter'll get grumpy at me if I do.

I don't think you could piss him off now if you tried. Believe me, I tried.

I'll have to give it a shot no matter what, [ Kyoko grins. ] I don't mind the challenge.

[Trevor grins back, devious]

I'd be careful if I were you. His two ways of showing annoyance are rolling his eyes and genocide of the human race. There's no in-between.

Then it's a good thing I don't know if I count as human anymore, [ she retorts, grin on her face. It's a little joke, tossed out without thinking, but the way Kyoko's expression shifts a little afterwards tells Trevor she's been thinking about this more often than not. ]

[He grunts, sitting up. Trevor's too perceptive to miss that hesitation but he's also not the most practiced at helping people feel better]

Well. Two arms. Two legs. No claws, no pointed ears. Show me your teeth.

[mycitynow]

[ She gives Trevor a wide grin, showing off her entirely human teeth. But after that, Kyoko leans back in her chair as she continues to talk. ]

My soul's not in my body anymore. It's in this little thing called a soul gem. If you took it away from me for too long, I'd pass out, just turn into an empty husk. When I'm transformed, I don't feel as much pain as I do when I'm a normal human. My body's changed so that I can fight better, fight longer, and take more hits. Stuff that would kill a normal person, I just shrug off.

I'm not really human. I'm just something optimized for killing witches.

So you're Alucard without all his weird half-vampire bullshit.

[mycitynow]

Maybe? I haven't really talked to Alucard that much.

[atowncalledtreffy]

You should. He goes through a lot of the same shit you're going through. Human, not human.

[Trevor waves a hand back and forth before settling it back on his chest]

Do you really care to know?

[mycitynow]

Yeah, [ she says, like it's the most obvious thing in the world. ] I do.

[atowncalledtreffy]

[He nods back, understanding.]

What do you think's going to happen if you're not wholly human?

[mycitynow]

Dunno. But it's the not being human thing that matters, right? I was something my whole life and now I'm...different.

[atowncalledtreffy]

Well.

Can always ask the admiral to make you human if it really bothers you.

[mycitynow]

There's no way that bastard would do it and you know it.

[ Fun fact: Kyoko has a really low opinion of the Admiral! ]

Heh. Yeah. But I just wanted to suggest it for fun.

Look, if you're not human, we can find a way to reverse it. We have a huge library. An archivist who knows everything. And I know loads about magic. What I don't know, Adrian will know.

[mycitynow]

[ There's a moment's pause before Kyoko nods. ]

Yeah. We'll find a way to deal with this.

[atowncalledtreffy]

[He extends a hand out to Kyoko, settling it on her shoulder]

Once I'm up, sure.

[mycitynow]

Then you'd better rest. I don't want you here any longer than needed!

[ And 'better rest' means that she should stop bothering him. Kyoko stands up, giving Trevor a nod and a bit of a smile as she does so. ]

Don't do anything dumb, okay?

Dumb? Me?

[He cracks a smile and settles back down in bed]

All I'm planning on is taking a nap.

[mycitynow]

[ She lets out a small 'tch' of fondness. Shaking her head at Trevor, she turns to leave.

She really likes the guy. It's annoying in a way. But nice in others. ]
