[A pause, and then, with a long sigh:]

Ah... really, I was asking him about his fight club offer from a little while ago...?

[This had better not constitute throwing Trevor under the bus. Presumably, he's spoken to his lover about it.]

[he tries for a tired smile, rubbing his face and turning to Sypha]

Oh, is that all? Good, because I thought I heard you say something about possibly killing him. I'm glad I was wrong.

I -- don't have very good control of myself in a fight.

So there are certain safety concerns about allowing myself to spar, but I'll have to if I want to ever train myself out of that problem....

[They were definitely going to talk safety precautions and not just make sure that Trevor was fine with death as a potential consequence of fighting! That's clearly how that conversation was going, except that it was too late at night to get into the details....]

It was my idea. He can learn how to pull his punches and learn how not kill someone here, where the death toll's working.

That’s…not exactly what I had in mind.

And it’s not really important if he slips and kills me - the death toll’s a decent safety net. Haven’t seen it fail once.

I'll be happy to chaperone. We can talk about this more tomorrow. But Trevor is not about to get much sleep, so perhaps you both want to postpone.

I think when Death is broken and you can resurrect in a week's time, yes: it loses some of its mystery and importance the second, third, or fourth time you die.
